CES 2009 Coverage

Well, here we are once again, the heavenly galore for gadget geeks and nano nerds alike! Taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada, the showcasing up to this point has been nothing short of outstanding! There have been a substantial amount of different electronics under different categories, ranging from mp3's, cell phones, etc. to Plasma screens, computers, and more! Just to make the wow-factor a little easier, I'm going to list for you my top 10 I've seen of this event up to date:

10.) LG Watch Phone: Ok, I know what you're thinking! I must be a complete idiot for placing this at number 10, but consider my opinion for a second. This is old, old technology. I mean literally, I've been seeing watch phones from the Chinese market since about 2-3 years ago, and to finally hit a North American company now, it just seems a little overdue, and the whole excitement of this technology has worn off. I just don't feel it was a good decision to unveil it here, since most people have also probably seen it elsewhere. We'll see how it does...

9.) Portable Panasonic Blu-Ray Player: Well, this should've been higher, but you'll later see why it ended up down here. I think it's great, that Blu Ray is now the modern format that everyone's watching movies on, and to take the next step into portable viewing is great. It's really making the push to soon be the commonly used format, and it'd be amazing just to watch movies in high def clarity, on a 7 inch screen!

8.) Kodak HD Camcorder: Well, not like we haven't seen enough of these around, with plenty of them churning into the market from different companies. But it's the price factor and portability that's REALLY great! It carries a 2 inch screen, and records at 60 fps. It'll soon be in the market for only $150, which is a great price.

7.) D-Link USB Powered Monitor: For those computer multi taskers, who just can't handle cramming all their open software's in one task bar, worry no more! This alternate 7 inch screen, will enable you to use two screens at once, through a single computer. So half your apps. can be open in one window, and half in the other, or whichever way preferred. It's also extremely portable, which is great.

6.) Lenovo PC: 21.5 inch screen. 4GB RAM. 1TB Hard Drive. Blu Ray, TV Tuner, Built in Subwoofer, MOTION SENSING!! BELOW $1000!? AHHH!! LOL, don't worry, I'm ok. But just to think, all those features stuffed into a single computer(with a sexy LCD monitor, mind you) and new motion sensing technology to control it, at such a great price, I think it's beautiful!

5.) We are officially moving into the portable age! With SD cards on the verge of release, now holding up to 2TB, WHO NEEDS A HARD DRIVE? I mean, literally, just 2 years ago, holding 1GB on a memory stick was mind blowing, and now to thing, 2,000 GB?? I must be in tech heaven...

4.) Mattel's Mindflex: Hey, how about we play a little game? Hope you're not mentally exhausted, because this will definitely make you! Mindflex, a new ping pong genre game where you have to use your mind to control a ball, mentally, and make it fly through hoops, rings, etc. It's amazing how far technology has really come, where you don't even need your hands to control a game! This would be an amazing gift if you have kids, or for the kid in yourself!

3.) Pharos Traveller Phone: Eyy iPhone, better keep your guard up, because here's a phone that's up for a challenge! Used to be a GPS company, it's now broken into the cell phone market, and along with outsanding GPS capabilities, it uses Windows Mobile 6.1 OS, contains a 3 mp camera, and offers GPS for only $50 a year, which is great if you're a constant "traveller".

2.) Palm Pre: Now, the iPhone REALLY needs to be careful! The new Palm Pre, which has been hyped up since the second it was unveiled at CES, might just be the competition to knock the iPhone off the throne! It's touch screen, with a slide out keyboard, and runs their custom OS, WebOS. It has GPS, 8GB of internal storage, and is obviously a touch screen. Not a lot has been revealed yet, but enough has been disclosed to let consumer's know that PALM is officially back in the cell game.

1.) Sixense Motion Sensing Controllers: And FINALLY, #1! Now, you all might rewind back to the Wii, thinking what's so great. Well apparently, their technology isn't specific, and only uses 3 points of hand gesture. This technology really pushes it to the next level, wherein this has 6 points, and specifically controls based on how you're holding the remote and in the specific position. It hits right on the mark! Every 10 milliseconds, it calculates the EXACT position of the remote. It'll be out by the end of the year, for PC, and they're currently in talks with Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo to push it to their consoles. XBOX and PS3 fans rejoice, as for Wii users, this might spell bad news. Just imagine, Halo 3..with motion sensing...:D!

Well, that's my list for now, and I'll keep it updated as the convention continues, especially when my awaiting news appears, the upgrades on the new Acer Aspire One 10-inch Netbook, which I really want to buy. Until then, take it eZz :)
